“Be willing to be a BEGINNER every single morning.” – Meister Eckhart
Being a “beginner” can mean:
▪︎ Feeling rejuvenated or refreshed
▪︎ Ready to try and/or learn something new
▪︎ Not always playing the role of the expert
▪︎ Ready to start fresh
It’s important to be a beginner every single morning because it allows us to reset. Whether you are resetting due to burn out, failure, or it’s just time to do things differently, it’s always good to get a fresh start.
When we make mistakes or fail, we learn. We grow through these challenges and shortcomings.
It doesn’t mean that we’re starting over with nothing. The only direction is to improve.
Keep showing up, ready to try something new, maybe revisit the basics, and make sure that you’re taking care of yourself through your journey.
It takes 10,000 hours, which is 5 years of working full-time to acquire a new skill. Josh Kaufman’s talk is about mastering the toughest part of learning anything new. This is the first 20 hours.
Josh specializes in teaching people from all walks of life how to master practical knowledge and skills. He shares how having his first child inspired him to approach learning in a whole new way. The talk video link is below.
